SBA to Open Temp Assistance Offices

Regional Long-Term Recovery Team Seeks Volunteer Assistance!!

Flood survivors are looking for resources to recover from the floods this summer, but this can often be a complicated and frustrating process.

Non-profit and faith based partners are forming long-term recovery committees to address flood survivors un-met needs, which may be financial, physical, emotional, or spiritual well-being.

The next step in the process of recovery for those still having un-met needs is to apply for SBA loans and MHFA loans.   Disaster Loan Centers (DLOC) will be opening up soon in the region for survivors to come and apply for these loans.  There will be a DLOC at the DECC, the Barnum Community Center and a location in Pine County – dates/times that sites will be open are still to be announced, but volunteers will be needed at all locations.

The regional long-term recovery partners are looking for volunteers who would be willing to staff these DLOC’s, sit and listen to survivors unique stories, help identify un-met needs and record some vital information for follow through.

Two informative workshop/ trainings will take place on Monday, August 20th for those willing to volunteer to serve:

Session One:  Monday, August 20th from 3:00 – 4:30 PM
Session Two:  Monday, August 20th from 5:00 – 6:30 PM

Both will be held at the Ordean Building, 424 West Superior Street, Conference Rooms B/C, Duluth
Parking is available at meters or in the 4th Street Parking Ramp on Michigan Street

Each session will include information about the “Roller Coaster of Disaster Recovery”, the unique needs of flood survivors, how to ask the “right” questions to identify vulnerable populations as well as information on client confidentiality and more.
