Chester Bowl flood recovery: update and benefit event

Hello Chester Bowlers,

I just wanted to give a quick update about flood recovery at the Bowl, and ways that you can continue to help. First, thanks to the hundreds and hundreds of folks who have worked so hard, including on the two cleanup nights we’ve had in the park.  This outpouring of support has gotten much of the initial mess cleaned up, and we’re now moving into a second phase of what will be a long, long recovery.  This phase involves more planning, expertise, and also money than the initial “sweat equity” cleanup phase, but periodically we still will need many volunteers to help implement the repair and recovery plans.  Please stay tuned for further volunteer opportunities, and please also participate in the Mini-Master Planning process that has already begun.  That process has been delayed somewhat by the floods, but will resume soon.

In the meantime, here are several ways you can help:

Saturday, July 21 from 2-7pm Sara’s Table is hosting a benefit event for Chester Bowl. Check out http://www.astccc.net/ChesterBowlAffair.html. More details coming soon!

Friday, July 20 from 1-3pm, and Friday, August 3 from 1-3pm:  Buckthorn cutting at Chester Park. Meet at the main entrance to Chester Bowl.

Tuesday, July 31 from 5-8pm:  Weed whacking at Chester Park. Meet at the main entrance to Chester Bowl.

Again, thanks to all those who have already helped the park begin its recovery!

Curt Leitz, President
