Municipal Code Chapter 45, Article VI: Snow Removal

Municipal Code
Chapter 45, Article VI deals with snow removal from public sidewalks.
Please see the code for exact details.  Here is a simplified version:

In general, a person who owns or leases property adjacent to a public sidewalk is required to clear the snow to a 36″ path and de-ice , if necessary, within 24 hours after the end of a snowfall.

An exception is that if a city plow leaves a snowbank on your sidewalk, it is the city’s responsibility to remove it.

Don’t shovel snow into the street.

If the city has to clear the snow because the owner did not, the cost can be assessed to your property.
