Long time University of Minnesota-Duluth Chancellor Katherine Martin has announced her retirement.

Chancellor Martin has seen the Duluth campus radically change in her fifteen years as chancellor.

Exploding enrollment, new buildings, and national championships were just a few of her fond memories, but she says there’s one thing that stands out.

Martin said “Our faculty is coming from North Carolina state, Penn state, Northwestern, Southern Methodist; it’s a whole new level of quality that we’re being recognized as having and I’m very, very proud of that.”

Martin will step down in July of 2010, and she says she looks forward to reading, writing and golfing in her new found free time.
